Multimedia program for enhancing the image of nursing profession in Bangladesh: The Trust has developed a series of multi-media productions about nursing practice that have been used to inform the public on the role of the nurse in healthcare and society. Supported and funded by local businesses, the program includes the production of two nursing focused magazines; Nurture that provides health information from nurses and Rufaida, the first exclusive nursing journal published in Bangladesh. A video series called ‘I am a nurse’ was produced to raise the perception of the nursing profession among potential students and to decrease the stigma associated with the role. Lastly, the Trust has served as a content expert to the city news publication, the Daily Star.
A long term public relations campaign has been started that will raise the public perception of nursing and ultimately convince bright youngsters to join the nursing profession. AKKHT has already launched a local version of a leading journal for nurses worldwide. This journal ‘Nurture’ has been launched in association with Johnson & Johnson Medical. Other publications by AKKHT targeted to enhance the image of Nursing include the “Rufaidah” Magazine published in English and Bengali.
